  4.     As a lifelong conservative Republican who strongly believes in
  5. free enterprise and personal freedom in general, I am deeply
  6. disappointed in our former President. Ronald Reagan's receipt of
  7. a reported $2 million (or 284 million yen) from the Japanese
  8. (NATION, Nov. 6) is an embarrassment to the American people. His
  9. hustle for library funds compounds the discomfort. Reagan has
  10. retired well at the taxpayers' expense and lives a luxurious life.
  11. Why not contribute his time and goodwill in the name of the country
  12. that is supporting him? He can never spend the fortune he already
  13. has.
